Active construction is beginning on Sandridge Road as part of the Bonded Transportation Program, and bridge work is starting on County Road 218 at the Black Creek Bridge.

Bonded Transportation Program- Road construction will be starting soon for the Clay County Bonded Transportation Program projects in Middleburg, Green Cove Springs, and Lake Asbury. Motorists should anticipate temporary lane closures and flagging operations once work begins. Acorn Chase (Orange Park) – Anticipate daytime, single-lane closures starting soon on Acorn Chase between both sides of the Tower Oaks Drive loop for a drainage improvement project.
Habitat Drive (Middleburg) – Anticipate daytime, single-lane closures starting soon on Habitat Drive from Baxley Road to Yukon Court for a drainage improvement project. Phase one of this project will include repairing and lowering the drainage structures.
Grove Park Lane and Grove Park Drive North (Orange Park) - Anticipate daytime, single-lane closures starting soon on Grove Park Lane and Grove Park Drive North from Grove Park Drive East to Grove Park Drive West for a drainage improvement project.
Henley Road (Lake Asbury) – Stormwater system upgrades are now anticipated to begin the second week in March at the 2700 block of Henley Road at the stormwater pond north of Orchard Walk Lane. Both northbound lanes of Henley Road will be closed for construction from just south of Orchard Walk Lane to approximately 1,000 feet north of the construction site. The two existing southbound lanes on Henley Road will be temporarily shifted to one northbound and one southbound lane for the entire project. During construction, the entranceway to Orchard Walk Lane will be closed to traffic and all in and out traffic will be detoured to the south entrance at Plantation Ridge. The northbound sidewalk on Henley Road will be diverted but remain open. Work is anticipated to take up to three months to complete and will include milling and resurfacing.
New County Projects
New striping work– Road striping work is starting this week on Henley Road from State Road 21 to County Road 220, on County Road 220 from Knight Boxx to College Drive, on Hibiscus Avenue, Cattail Street, South Cocoa Avenue, and on Sandridge Road at the crosswalk in front of Ronnie Van Zant Park. Anticipate rolling, temporary lane closures beginning Monday, February 20 at 9 p.m. and continuing during overnight hours for the rest of the week.
Olde Sutton Parke Drive (Oakleaf) – Crews are scheduled to begin drainage repairs at the intersection of Olde Sutton Parke Drive and Chantilly Court the week of February 20. The project includes the removal and replacement of the pipes and drainage structures, installing new curb inlets, asphalt paving, and concrete curb and gutter work. The project is anticipated to take up to 30 days to complete.
Thunder Road (Middleburg) Pavement milling work on Thunder Road from State Road 16 to the stop sign just north of Inglewood Drive will continue next week. Paving operations are expected to begin on Monday, February 20. Anticipate single-lane closures and watch for flaggers.
Ongoing County Projects
Anabelle Island Subdivision (Green Cove Springs/Lake Asbury)- Intermittent, daytime, single-lane closures weekdays on County Road 209 and on Sandridge Road near the Anabelle Island subdivision for asphalt paving and utility work. Work will take several more weeks to complete.
Aquarius Concourse (Orange Park)- Daytime, single-lane closures on Aquarius Concourse from Blairmore Boulevard West to Auriga Drive for a combined CCUA utility relocation and county road and drainage improvement project. The project is estimated at 60 percent complete with estimated completion in August 2023.
Botany Street (Doctors Inlet) –Work is underway to replace the stormwater drainage system on Botany Street just west of Dalby Court. Crews will be installing storm pipes this week. The project is anticipated to take up to 90 days to complete. No lane closures are anticipated. Watch for flaggers.
Camp Ridge Lane (Middleburg)- Crews are continuing to make repairs to the drainage structures in the 1300 block of Camp Ridge Lane. This project includes replacing the curb inlets and drainpipes from the intersection of Pine Ridge Parkway south 300 feet on Camp Ridge Lane to improve drainage and prevent flooding. Pipe installation work is complete, and crews will be reconstructing the roadway, concrete curbs, and driveways over the next few weeks.
Rosemary Street and Myrtle Street (Middleburg)- Daytime, single-lane closures continuing for a paving project on Rosemary Street between Blanding Blvd. and Myrtle Street and on Myrtle Street from Indigo Avenue to Alligator Blvd. Crews are grading and installing new storm pipes.
Sandridge Road (Lake Asbury)– Crews are continuing work on Sandridge Road as part of the Bonded Transportation Program. Drivers should anticipate single-lane closures from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sandridge Road from Henley Road to Russell Road (CR209) for gas pipeline installation, and utility relocation work, which will be ongoing over the next several months. Crews will begin layout and pond work this week. Contractors are coordinating with the school board and intend to complete construction in front of the Lake Asbury elementary and junior high schools during the summer break. Sharron Road (South of Middleburg) –Milling and resurfacing work was completed on Sharron Road from State Road 21 to where the pavement ends. Striping work is complete, and crews will be making additional project repairs after logging operations in that area are complete.
FDOT Projects
County Road 218 Black Creek Bridge (Clay Hill)- Anticipate daytime, single-lane closures Monday, February 20, through Friday, February 24, from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the north fork Black Creek Bridge on County Road 218 in the Clay Hill area for soil sampling operations. Watch for flaggers and please drive with caution in this work zone.
State Road 21 Resurfacing from State Road 16 in Penney Farms to Commercial Circle in Keystone Heights- Resurface 16 miles of roadway, add a center turn lane near Gold Head Branch State Park, drainage improvements, and other incidental construction. Work is expected to be completed in fall 2023.

State Road 100 at State Road 16- Daytime southbound lane closures weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for roadside work.
First Coast Expressway (FCE) Work FDOT
First Coast Expressway North - State Road 23 from State Road 21 to north of State Road 16 (Middleburg) - Construct 10.5 miles of new multi-lane, limited-access toll road with drainage system, stormwater ponds, traffic signals, lighting, signage, guardrails, three tolling facilities, 26 new bridges, noise walls, and retaining walls. Construction began in March 2019 and is expected to be completed in early 2025.

Henley Road at State Road 23- Daytime lane closures Friday, February 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to install barrier wall.

County Road 220 at State Road 23- Daytime lane closures with flaggers Saturday, February 18, and Monday, February 20, through Saturday, February 25, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to deliver construction materials.
First Coast Expressway South -State Road 23 from north of S.R. 16 to east of C.R. 209 (Green Cove Springs) - Construct 9.7 miles of new multi-lane, limited-access, toll road with drainage system, stormwater ponds, traffic signals, lighting, signage, guardrails, 15 new bridges, and two tolling facilities. Construction began in April 2019 and is expected to be completed in early 2025.
