 New County Projects
Doctors Lake Drive – Doctors Lake Drive will be closed from Peoria Road to Parkside Avenue beginning March 14, for drainage improvements including ditch and road shoulder work. Drivers east of the closure will be detoured on Bay Road to Peoria Road. Drivers west of the closure will be detoured on Parkside Avenue or Peoria Road to Moody Avenue.
In addition, Daytime, single-lane closures with flaggers will be in place on Doctors Lake Drive from Peoria Road to the Orange Park town limits near Montclair Elementary School beginning March 14 for drainage improvements. Lane closures will be in place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. All work is expected to be complete by Monday March 21.
Pine Ridge Parkway – Anticipate temporary traffic interruptions March 14 - 21 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Pine Ridge Parkway from Night Owl Trail to Lantern Light Trail, including the intersections, for pipelining and drainage improvement work.
Village Square Parkway - Anticipate daytime, single-lane closures at the 2200 block of Village Square Parkway March 17 through April 18, 2022, for drain line and curb work for the new Baptist hospital main entrance and the current outpatient entrance. Traffic will be restricted to one eastbound lane and sidewalk access will be restricted for the duration of the work.
Ongoing County Projects
High Prairie Lane- Anticipate daytime, single-lane closures on High Prairie Lane north and south to Great Falls Loop continuing the week of March 14 for curb repairs and resurfacing.
Sandridge Road and County Road 209 (Russell Road)- Daytime, single-lane closures with flaggers weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for a safety improvement project on County Road 209 from County Road 315B to Henley Road (CR739). Work will include the addition of a left turn lane at Sandridge Road, roadway striping and signage, shoulder widening, guardrails, and drainage improvements. Roadway paving and striping work will continue the week of March 14, 2022.
Tanglewood Boulevard– Daytime, single-lane closures with flaggers continuing the week of March 14 for stormwater system upgrades on Tanglewood Boulevard between Broken Arrow Drive West and Tumbleweed Drive. Work will take approximately 60 days to complete.
FDOT Projects
Blanding Blvd (SR21) Widening and Reconstruction Project- from Allie Murray Road to Long Bay Road- this project involves the full reconstruction and widening the roadway to six lanes. Construction on this $19.1 million project includes adding four-foot bike lanes and six-foot sidewalk in both directions, replacing traffic signals, adding streetlights, and constructing a new drainage system including new pipes, inlets, and small ponds. Medians are being narrowed to allow for the roadway widening and curb construction. Some intersection realignment work will also be done to better facilitate traffic signals and new travel lane alignment. Construction began in January of 2019 and is expected to be complete in March 2022.
Blanding Blvd (SR21) Widening Project – from CR 218 to Black Creek Bridge- Add two lanes of capacity to the 4-lane section of Blanding Boulevard between County Road 218 and Black Creek to provide more efficient east-west movements at the intersection of Blanding Boulevard and County Road 218. The County Road 218 bridge over Black Creek will be replaced to provide a wider bridge to accommodate the improvements. The County Road 218 bridge will remain open to traffic during construction. Construction on this $16.4 million project began in February 2020 and is expected to be completed in May 2022.
Blanding Boulevard at Robin Street - Nighttime southbound lane closures Monday, March 14, through Thursday, March 17, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. for roadside work.
County Road 209 from Mariners Road to North Fork Road- Daytime lane closures with flaggers Saturday, March 12, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for road work.
County Road 209 from Watkins Road to Russell Road- Daytime lane closures with flaggers Saturday, March 12, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Everette Avenue - Drivers should expect intermittent lane closures on Everett Avenue Monday, March 14 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather and schedule permitting, while construction crews work on paving and lane reconfiguration activities as part of the State Road 21/Blanding Boulevard Improvements Project from County Road 218 to Black Creek.
Sandridge Road at County Road 209 - Daytime lane closures with flaggers Saturday, March 12, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
US 17 and State Road 16- Bridge rehabilitation projects on U.S. 17 (State Road 15) over Johnson Slough and State Road 16 over the Black Creek North Fork began June 13, 2021, with an anticipated completion in spring 2022. Construction on this project includes installation of bridge pile jackets, spall repairs and other incidental work. Construction activities will take place primarily during daytime hours Monday through Friday.
U.S. 301 from County Road 218 to Richard Mosely Road – Daytime lane closures weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for road work.
- In this location 52 new concrete test sections are being installed parallel to the existing northbound lanes of U.S. 301 from just south of County Road 218 to just north of Richard Mosely Road (approximately 2.5 miles). A new storm water pond, new traffic signals, lighting, highway signage, guardrail, drainage, and asphalt paving are included in the construction. Work began in November of 2020 and should be complete by spring 2022.
First Coast Expressway (FCE) Work FDOT
First Coast Expressway (State Road 23) from north of S.R. 16 to east of C.R. 209 - Construct 9.7 miles of new multi-lane limited access toll road from east of County Road 209 to north of State Road 16 at a cost of $180 million. The project involves construction of a drainage system, stormwater ponds, traffic signals, lighting, signage, guardrails, and 15 new bridges. Construction began April 15, 2019, and is expected to be completed in early 2025.
First Coast Expressway (State Road 23) from S.R. 21 to north of S.R. 16 - Construct 10.5 miles of new multi-lane limited access toll road from north of State Road 16 to north of State Road 21 (Blanding Boulevard) at a cost of $229 million. This project involves construction of a drainage system, stormwater ponds, traffic signals, lighting, signage, guardrails, three tolling facilities, 26 new bridges, noise walls, and retaining walls. Construction began March 4, 2019, and is expected to be completed in early 2025.

Henley Road at the SR23 Corridor, south of Caleb Court - Daytime north and southbound lane closures on Henley Road from Caleb Court to Orchid Walk Lane weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for delivery of construction materials.
Springbank Road just south of State Road 16 - Daytime lane closures with flaggers weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and nighttime lane closures weeknights from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. for road work.
State Road 16 west of Green Cove Springs - Daytime lane closures weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and nighttime lane closures weeknights from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for road work.
U.S. 17 south of Green Cove Springs - Daytime lane closures weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and nighttime lane closures weeknights from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. for roadwork.
