 New County Projects
County Road 218 CSX Railroad Crossing - Anticipate a complete closure of the railroad crossing at County Road 218 and U.S. Highway 301 on/around February 9, 2022, for maintenance and repair. The crossing will be closed for 2 to 5 days, depending on the maintenance work that needs to be performed. This is a full and total closure of all lanes. This means no traffic will be allowed across the track until the work is complete. Follow Detour.
- Drivers heading west on County Road 218 will be detoured north on County Road 217 and west on State Road 228 (Normandy Blvd.) to US Hwy 301.
- Eastbound drivers on County Road 218 will be detoured north on US Hwy 301, east on State Road 228, and south on County Road 217, to County Road 218.
Moody Avenue at Meadow Drive- Anticipate daytime, single-lane closures Thursday, February 10 at the intersection of Moody Avenue and Meadow Drive for concrete work. Dates are subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Ongoing County Projects
Challenger Drive at Atlantis Drive- Daytime, single-lane closures at the intersection of Atlantis Drive, Trail Ridge Road, and Challenger Drive continuing the week of February 7 for traffic loop installation.
Greenwood Subdivision- Daytime, single-lane closures continuing the week of February 7 in the Greenwood subdivision for a county milling and resurfacing project. Work will include Evergreen Lane and Evergreen Lane East, Blackwood Lane, Marybeth Drive, Tina Lane, Julie Lane, Lisa Dawn Drive, Rhonda Drive, Diana Drive, Pinewood Blvd North and Pinewood Blvd. East, Susan Drive, Donna Drive, Tina Lane, and April Drive.
High Prairie Lane- Daytime, single lane closures on High Prairie Lane north and south to Great Falls Loop continuing the week of February 7, for a county milling and resurfacing project.
Oakleaf Plantation Parkway – Anticipate daytime, single-lane closures with flaggers the week of February 7 on Oakleaf Plantation Parkway from the Duval County line to Eagle Landing Parkway and the intersection at Town Center Parkway to install pavement markings. Avoid driving on wet paint to prevent damage to vehicles. Crews will also be installing rumble strips at the traffic circle. Please slow down and use caution around work crews.
Pine Avenue Pedestrian Bridge- Crews are replacing the pedestrian bridge on Pine Avenue between Cedar Run Drive and North Ridge Drive. Work will continue the week of January 7; no lane closures are in place, but pedestrian traffic may be restricted.
Sandridge Road and County Road 209 (Russell Road)- Daytime, single-lane closures with flaggers weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for a safety improvement project on County Road 209 from County Road 315B to Henley Road (CR739). Work will include the addition of a left turn lane at Sandridge Road, roadway striping and signage, shoulder widening, guardrails, and drainage improvements. Crews will be paving and striping the roadway the week of February 7, expect delays. All work is expected the be complete by the end of February.
FDOT Projects
Blanding Blvd (SR21) Widening and Reconstruction Project- from Allie Murray Road to Long Bay Road- this project involves the full reconstruction and widening the roadway to six lanes. Construction on this $19.1 million project includes adding four-foot bike lanes and six-foot sidewalk in both directions, replacing traffic signals, adding streetlights, and constructing a new drainage system including new pipes, inlets, and small ponds. Medians are being narrowed to allow for the roadway widening and curb construction. Some intersection realignment work will also be done to better facilitate traffic signals and new travel lane alignment. Construction began in January of 2019 and is expected to be complete in March 2022.
Blanding Blvd (SR21) Widening Project from CR 218 to the Black Creek Bridge- Add two lanes of capacity to the 4-lane section of Blanding Boulevard between County Road 218 and Black Creek to provide more efficient east-west movements at the intersection of Blanding Boulevard and County Road 218. The County Road 218 bridge over Black Creek will be replaced to provide a wider bridge to accommodate the improvements. The County Road 218 bridge will remain open to traffic during construction. Construction on this $16.4 million project began in February 2020 and is expected to be completed in May 2022.
First Coast Expressway (FCE) Work FDOT
First Coast Expressway (State Road 23) from north of S.R. 16 to east of C.R. 209 - Construct 9.7 miles of new multi-lane limited access toll road from east of County Road 209 to north of State Road 16 at a cost of $180 million. The project involves construction of a drainage system, stormwater ponds, traffic signals, lighting, signage, guardrails, and 15 new bridges. Construction began April 15, 2019, and is expected to be completed in early 2025.
First Coast Expressway (State Road 23) from S.R. 21 to north of S.R. 16 - Construct 10.5 miles of new multi-lane limited access toll road from north of State Road 16 to north of State Road 21 (Blanding Boulevard) at a cost of $229 million. This project involves construction of a drainage system, stormwater ponds, traffic signals, lighting, signage, guardrails, three tolling facilities, 26 new bridges, noise walls, and retaining walls. Construction began March 4, 2019, and is expected to be completed in early 2025.

County Road 220 at Baxley Road – Intermittent daytime traffic interruptions with flaggers Monday, February 7, through Saturday, February 12, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for delivery of construction materials.
Springbank Road just south of State Road 16 - Daytime lane closures with flaggers weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and nighttime lane closures weeknights from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. for road work.
State Road 16 west of State Road 21- Daytime lane closures weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for ditch cleaning.
State Road 16 west of Green Cove Springs - Daytime lane closures weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and nighttime lane closures weeknights from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for road work.
U.S. 17 south of Green Cove Springs - Daytime lane closures weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and nighttime lane closures weeknights from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. for roadwork.
