GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla – Clay County Public Libraries are launching a new program to help adults obtain an accelerated high school diploma or targeted career certification. Career Online High School™ is an online private high school diploma and career certification program offering free enrollment to a limited number of qualified adult students. Clay County residents who are 19 years of age or older can prepare for a successful career online with the support of their local library. Coursework in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health, and career electives geared toward specific in demand jobs will prepare you for career success in 12 to 18 months. Previous high school coursework can be applied toward the program. Career Online High School™ also gives graduates the tools and information needed to seek employment in their field of interest.
Career Online High School™ students will be able to:
- Earn an accredited high school diploma
- Earn a career certificate
- Take classes online with the flexibility of 24/7 access
- Get support from certified instructors and an academic coach who care about your success
- Gain career readiness with a career portfolio including a resume, a cover letter, and job preparation support
Clay County Library staff also have access to program guides and support to manage the Career Online High School™ program and help students through the process.
Clay County Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners Wayne Bolla said, “We are working hard to enhance the services available at our public libraries. The Career Online High School program is another great avenue to bridge the education gap by offering a pathway to career advancement, and continuing education and training that improves the quality of life for our residents and supports the needs of Clay County businesses and industries.”
To apply for a scholarship, students must take a short online survey, select a career path, and successfully complete the two-week prerequisite course. Students will be contacted by the library within five business days to discuss their application and schedule an interview. A determination will be made regarding the scholarship award within five business days after the interview. Once awarded, you must request transcripts from any accredited high school you have attended to receive credit for previously completed coursework. All scholarships must be awarded by May 1, 2022.
