Project #1- County Road 218 from Pine Tree Lane to Cosmos Avenue in Middleburg
This Bonded Transportation Program project will increase safety and capacity on County Road 218 by widening the 2.7-mile stretch of road from two lanes to four lanes. The project will include the addition of medians, turn lanes, curbs and gutters, side walks, and bike lanes.
The design phase for this project is 30 percent complete. The permitting process and surveying are both 90 percent complete. Right of way acquisitions are 50 percent complete.
Construction is estimated to begin in Summer of 2022 and completion is estimated for fall of 2023.
The design and construction contract was awarded to Anderson Columbia Inc., which includes a budget for Clay County Utility Authority (CCUA) to complete the installation of utilities during the road construction.

The Bonded Transportation Program's mission is to design and build the safest and most efficient roadways and drainage systems for the identified road projects.
These roadway enhancements will benefit Clay County residents by improving traffic flow, increasing public safety, increasing travel lanes, adding drainage features, and including sidewalks and bicycle lanes on both sides.
