Local parks and recreation professionals and their agencies deliver favorite close-to-home activities that people seek while on vacation. Biking, hiking, walking, picnicking, swimming and fishing are among a few options that may be found at your nearby parks. In addition to outdoor amenities, parks and recreation professionals are providing virtual classes and activities, such as crafts, cooking, music lessons and art.
Key Findings
- Fifty-four percent of U.S. adults are more likely to choose a vacation spot closer to home this summer.
- Millennials are more likely to choose a vacation spot closer to home this summer compared to Gen X or baby boomers (61 percent vs 52 percent and 48 percent, respectively).
- Parents are more likely than non-parents to choose a vacation spot closer to home this past summer (66 percent vs 48 percent, respectively).
