DNREC Asks Public to Report Sightings of Wild Turkeys During Annual Survey
DNREC is counting on Delawareans to help with the state’s annual productivity survey for wild turkeys July 1 through Aug. 31. DNREC Opens New Delaware Environmental Laboratory in Smyrna
On June 18, DNREC opened the new Delaware Environmental Laboratory near Smyrna, a state-of-the-art facility to test water quality, chemical contaminants including per- and poly fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and to conduct molecular and microbiology. DNREC Secretary Greg Patterson was joined for a ceremonial ribbon cutting by representatives of the state’s congressional delegation, state legislators, former DNREC cabinet secretaries and organizations that depend on the environmental lab for scientific analysis. How Delaware Is Saving the Least Tern
Come behind the scenes of a least tern nesting area near Cape Henlopen State Park, where a collaborative conservation effort is helping one of Delaware's rarest beach-nesting birds make a remarkable comeback.
Secretary Gregory Patterson joined biologists and park staff to see firsthand how monitoring, habitat management and strong partnerships are helping protect the colony during the critical nesting season.
Atlantic coast least terns are state-endangered and a Tier 1 Species of Greatest Conservation Need in Delaware. After decades with little to no successful nesting attempts at this site, the colony has made an impressive recovery.
This year, more than 80 pairs nested, compared with 32 pairs last year. Staff have documented more than 100 chicks hatching, banded 55 chicks for future monitoring and counted 14 fledglings so far.

The DNREC Coastal Training Program's Top 3 in 30 webinar series delivers the three key takeaways on important resilience and restoration topics in just 30 minutes.
The next webinar, July 16, will focus on disaster response at the community level, covering community hazards, disaster response and how Delawareans can prepare through the Delaware Emergency Management Agency's Community Emergency Response Team program.
On Aug. 20, participants can learn about water quality advisories in Delaware, including what advisories mean, why they're issued and how DNREC monitors recreational waters and shellfish harvesting areas to help protect public health.

Digital DNREC E-Permitting
Use the Digital DNREC ePermitting system for recreational fishing and hunting licenses, license exempt numbers, deer harvest report cards and tags, deer damage assistance, hunter education, waterfowl stamps, permits, Conservation Access Passes and harvest reporting.

DNREC Language Services
We provide free interpretation services upon request to help ensure full participation by all communities, primarily those with limited English proficiency.
Requests for oral interpretation of an application or assistance with submitting a public comment must be made no later than 10 days prior to the close of that application’s comment period. Requests for live oral interpretation must be made no later than 10 days prior to date of the DNREC-hosted public hearing, meeting or community event.
