July is National Parks and Recreation Month!
The DNREC Division of Parks and Recreation oversees more than 20,000 acres in 17 state parks, manages state nature preserves, and monitors conservation easements protecting more than 4,000 acres of land. The division preserves cultural and historic resources, from a Civil War-era fort to elegant estates. And it provides a wide variety of recreational and educational opportunities for Delawareans and visitors.
Did you know there's still time to participate in the 2024 Delaware State Parks Passport Challenges? Participants can explore and discover the wide variety of state parks in Delaware by accomplishing any 25 of the 30 total challenges on the checklist. You can qualify for a free 2025 annual park pass as well as other awesome park prizes by completing these challenges.

Volunteers Needed to Clean Up the Coast

We welcomed 17 interns as part of our new internship program. This pilot program allows interns who have a passion for making a positive impact on the environment to gain practical, hands-on experience at DNREC offices throughout the state. During this paid internship program, interns work in varying fields like environmental science, natural resource management, wildlife biology, data science and statistics, marketing communications, engineering and compliance, and government administration.

Digital DNREC E-Permitting
Use the Digital DNREC ePermitting system for recreational fishing and hunting licenses, license exempt numbers, deer harvest report cards and tags, deer damage assistance, hunter education, waterfowl stamps, permits, Conservation Access Passes, and harvest reporting.

Simply put, practicing environmental justice ensures that everyone has an equal seat at the table where decisions are made.

Mosquito Control Section
DNREC’s Mosquito Control Section provides mosquito control services throughout Delaware to maintain quality of life and protect public health by reducing the possibility of mosquito-borne illnesses. Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
Every year, Delaware’s Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) helps hundreds of households improve their homes and reduce energy expenses. The past year's highlights, success stories, and program benefits have been compiled in the 2023 WAP Annual Report, now available at de.gov/wap. Achievements such as the proclamation of Weatherization Day, thorough quality control, and a rising production rate have made the Weatherization team eager as ever to carry out WAP’s mission in the new program year.
