March is a Weather Wonderland - Watch out for Storms
As I write this, DC is under significant storm warnings, including the chance of tornados, later today. I hope everyone takes precautions and makes it through the storm safely. After the storm, take extra care - stay away from downed power lines, avoid driving if you can while downed trees are cleaned up, and check on your neighbors to make sure they have what they need.
As a reminder, I am serving from abroad until mid July. You can reach out to me via my regular email and cell phone, and I am attending ANC meetings virtually.
4D Grants Committee is on a Roll!
Thank you SO much to those who stepped up to serve on our grants committee, which is now evaluating submissions from our March round of grants. The next round will be due June 1. See full details for how to apply, FAQs, and more at https://anc4d.org/community-grants/
We also need new committee members to help advertise the grants, review incoming applications, and make sure applicants are prepared to apply. Please reach out to me if you would like to join the committee.
Rats, Trash, and Parking In and Around Lorenzo Allen Park
Lorenzo Allen Park is the gem of 4D04, and I'd argue of all of 4D! That's why the trash and rodent problem, as well as nearby out-of-state and other illegal vehicle parking, really needs to improve. ANC 4D, active neighbors, and the Mayor's office organized a walkthrough a few weeks ago to review the issues and talk solutions. And, Department of Public Works and Department of Health will be joining us at our March meeting Wednesday night at my invitation to hear our concerns and share what can be done to improve these issues in our beautiful neighborhood park. Please join us at the ANC meeting to participate in the conversation.
Thank you,
Commissioner Eliza Cava
