September ANC 4B06 Single Member District Meeting
The next ANC 4B06 SMD meeting is scheduled for May 6, 2024, at 7 pm.
As a reminder, you can always enter a 311 request independently or I can enter one on your behalf. If you need assistance, please reach out to me via my SMD website constituent concerns form.
Quarterly Prioritization
DDOT paused the quarterly prioritization for this quarter (July - September 2024). During this time, DDOT will work to refine the TSI program with the goal of resuming an improved program on October 1, 2024. In the interim, Councilmember Janeese Lewis George and her team have created their own Traffic Safety Input Form.
For information regarding traffic calming measures, view the DDOT website at the following address: Traffic Safety Input.
NOTE: Please do NOT use this service request type to report maintenance issues related to existing Roadway Signs, Traffic Signal Issues, Sidewalk Repair, Roadway Markings, Tree Pruning, or Roadway Repair (including speed hump repair requests).
For such requests, please select the corresponding service request type from DC 311. Maintenance requests submitted as Traffic Safety Inputs will not be addressed.
If you have a direct DDOT constituent services request, please contact our Constituent Services team by phone or email here: Constituent Services.

Preparing Our Facilities for the First Day of School
Since early July, I've been working with my council colleagues to meet with educators, school leaders, and various agencies to assess the condition of schools throughout the District. This process has also involved regular communication with parents and families to get the latest information on the status of repairs and projects from DGS and DCPS.
I'm grateful to everyone who has joined us on these tours and is advocating for the well-being of our students and educators. DC’s teachers and students deserve a safe and comfortable academic environment. When this need is met, students of all ages show up to school and thrive.
In the next few days, I encourage all educators and school staff to review our school readiness checklist and email facilities@dccouncil.gov to report any issues they encounter. As issues arise, I’ll continue to conduct oversight to ensure schools are prepared and students’ learning is not interrupted.
I'll also be sharing a letter with DGS and DCPS leadership in the coming days to share my findings from these tours and recommend a path forward. I expect and am hopeful the Council, DGS, and DCPS can work together to improve and streamline processes and ultimately deliver the best conditions for our students, educators, and school communities.

Unified Communication Center UCC
DPW is committed to delivering efficient and effective services to our residents and quickly resolving issues. As our partner in providing streamlined and effective resolutions, we wanted to share the best channels for residents to utilize.
In order to improve our customer service and our internal tracking mechanisms, DPW launched the Unified Communication Center (UCC) in November 2023 aimed at decreasing our response and resolution times. Through the UCC, we have consolidated our call centers and phone numbers into one accessible line. In February 2024, our average hold time was under 2 minutes, affirming our swift assistance for all callers. We also consolidated our emails into one central address. Each contact, whether by phone or email, is provided a Service Request (SR) if they don’t already have one. For a service inquiry, our representatives offer service information and pass along Service Level Agreement (SLA) benchmarks. In instances where an SR is past our SLA benchmarks, our operational escalation team intervenes to quickly resolve the outstanding request.
To ensure smooth communication for everyone, as a first step, we kindly request you share the contact details of the UCC with all members in your office and constituents who reach out to you. This will make the service resolution process quicker for residents and raise awareness about DPW's new communication center. DPW’s leadership team is here to address continual issues or problems that have not been addressed satisfactorily by the UCC.
The UCC is still new, and staff are still learning. If you have used the UCC, please share feedback on what’s working well and what needs improvement. We’d love to hear from you so we can continue to improve!
UCC Phone: (202) 673-6833 (Mon – Fri) 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Central Email: dpw@dc.gov.

Vision Zero Survey
The Vision Zero and Highway Safety Offices are currently soliciting community input on traffic safety in the District, and we'd love to hear from the constituents in your ANC!
As you may know, in 2015, Mayor Muriel Bowser launched Vision Zero in DC. Vision Zero is a global movement that sees traffic-related deaths and serious injuries as unacceptable and makes traffic safety the highest priority for transportation systems. In an effort to form the next strategic plan, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), Highway Safety Office (HSO), and Vision Zero Office are conducting a series of surveys and listening sessions to gain input and feedback from community members. Learn more about this project here: https://visionzero.dc.gov/pages/2024-survey
ANC Commissioners - we ask that you please share this opportunity to provide feedback with your community and partners. As you'll see on the website, there are two ways interested individuals can get involved.
1. Fill out the online survey! Click here to provide feedback via a brief online survey!
2. Join us for an in-person discussion! Roundtable listening sessions will be held at the following dates, times, and locations. Each roundtable discussion is open to the public and will be hosted by staff from the Vision Zero Office and Highway Safety Office.
