Quarterly Prioritization
DDOT paused the quarterly prioritization for this quarter (July - September 2024). During this time, DDOT will work to refine the TSI program with the goal of resuming an improved program on October 1, 2024. In the interim, Councilmember Janeese Lewis George and her team have created their own Traffic Safety Input Form.
For information regarding traffic calming measures, view the DDOT website at the following address: Traffic Safety Input.
NOTE: Please do NOT use this service request type to report maintenance issues related to existing Roadway Signs, Traffic Signal Issues, Sidewalk Repair, Roadway Markings, Tree Pruning, or Roadway Repair (including speed hump repair requests).
For such requests, please select the corresponding service request type from DC 311. Maintenance requests submitted as Traffic Safety Inputs will not be addressed.
If you have a direct DDOT constituent services request, please contact our Constituent Services team by phone or email here: Constituent Services.

Unified Communication Center UCC
DPW is committed to delivering efficient and effective services to our residents and quickly resolving issues. As our partner in providing streamlined and effective resolutions, we wanted to share the best channels for residents to utilize.
In order to improve our customer service and our internal tracking mechanisms, DPW launched the Unified Communication Center (UCC) in November 2023 aimed at decreasing our response and resolution times. Through the UCC, we have consolidated our call centers and phone numbers into one accessible line. In February 2024, our average hold time was under 2 minutes, affirming our swift assistance for all callers. We also consolidated our emails into one central address. Each contact, whether by phone or email, is provided a Service Request (SR) if they don’t already have one. For a service inquiry, our representatives offer service information and pass along Service Level Agreement (SLA) benchmarks. In instances where an SR is past our SLA benchmarks, our operational escalation team intervenes to quickly resolve the outstanding request.
To ensure smooth communication for everyone, as a first step, we kindly request you share the contact details of the UCC with all members in your office and constituents who reach out to you. This will make the service resolution process quicker for residents and raise awareness about DPW's new communication center. DPW’s leadership team is here to address continual issues or problems that have not been addressed satisfactorily by the UCC.
The UCC is still new, and staff are still learning. If you have used the UCC, please share feedback on what’s working well and what needs improvement. We’d love to hear from you so we can continue to improve!
UCC Phone: (202) 673-6833 (Mon – Fri) 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Updates from ANC 4B07
"In mid-July we held a community meeting that was focused on the redevelopment project located at 245 Peabody St., NW. The applicant (Estrellitas Montessori) came out to Capital City Public Charter School to present their design and construction plans and speak with neighbors about the project. After many discussions, the issue continues to boil down to a few primary points of contention: The size and capacity of the property, the concern around parking, the concern around alley usage, and concerns that the design does not fit into the character of the neighborhood. I have been reiterating these concerns to the applicant in the hopes that they will propose some solutions to these concerns, and the applicant has been willing to listen and engage on those issues. I expect that the community will receive some feedback from the applicant on these issues in the next week or so. I’ve spoken to some members of the community who have informed me that they will be seeking “party status” from the BZA in order to oppose this project. As the affected ANC commissioner, my position on this issue has remained consistent: I support additional childcare in our neighborhood. However, new or proposed initiatives need to strike a balance between the needs of the business/developments and the needs of the community. I remain optimistic that we can find some common ground on this issue."
"Back in early July ,the DC Council held their first vote on renaming the park at 2nd St, NW; North Dakota Ave., and Quackenbos St., NW the Ronald “Ron” Austin Memorial Park. The first reading of this legislation passed, and is now expected to go to the second reading, which I believe will take place after the Council’s summer recess. Hopefully it will receive the votes needed in order to pass the second reading so that it can be signed into law. I imagine there will be some sort of ceremony to commemorate this long overdue event. One of my favorite lines (of many) that Ron used to say, whenever someone wanted to hold an event like this, was to call the event “A COOKOUT, not a picnic” - so I’ve begun to circulate the idea of holding a “Cookout” to honor Ron. I will keep the community updated as I learn more."
"Going forward in my newsletters I’m going to try and spotlight neighbors who are doing great things within the community. This moth I’d like to spotlight Julie Allen (@JuliaGGAllen).
Julie lives in the Manor Park neighborhood and, along with her kids, has spearheaded an initiative called #TwoOnTuesday. Each Tuesday, Julie and her kids go out into the community to pick up two handfuls of trash each. She has tagged others on social media and encouraged them to do the same. Julie has gotten a pretty good response to what she is doing, but I’m hoping that more neighbors will engage with the idea of #TwoOnTuesday, even if it just means picking up a few pieces of trash around your home/property on Tuesday."
Important Update Regarding the Lamond Recreation Center Incident
This update is related to the incident at the Lamond Rec Center that occurred on August 1, 2024.

"Dear Neighbors,
As many of you know by now, there was a serious incident Thursday evening at the Lamond Recreation Center that resulted in the death of one young individual as well as serious injuries to another. This appears to have been a targeted incident and our Councilmember has since released a statement providing some additional information about the incident.
I will keep everyone updated as I learn more about this incident. I’m also available via my usual channels (phone/email/social media) if you would like to contact me. Also, the District’s Department of Behavioral Health maintains an Access Helpline - 1(888)7WE-HELP - that is available 24/7 in case you or someone you know needs access to a behavioral health care provider. Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress related to gun violence is real and should not be ignored.
Some neighbors have already reached out to me asking about whether there is a GoFundMe available for the family of the child that was killed, if there will be any meetings or future actions taken as a result of this incident, and what next steps are with respect to security at and around the rec center. I will keep you updated as I hear more and once I have additional answers to these questions. I have invited Councilmember Lewis-George to attend our August SMD meeting.
I’m already hearing stories about how courageous and professional the staff at Lamond Rec Center was on Thursday evening - both during and after this tragic event. If you have never met or interacted with the staff at the rec center, I would highly encourage you to do so. The rec center is staffed with some great people who often act as the eyes and ears of the neighborhood. This is in addition to keeping kids, seniors, and families happy, safe, and engaged. They are truly a great group of recreation professionals."
