Residential Parking Permits

As of March 1, 2024, residents on the north side of the 200 block of Oglethorpe Street NW and the west side of the 5900 block of 2nd Street NW will be rezoned as requiring residential permits to park.  This is in response to the residents' concerns regarding loss of parking spaces from non-residents parking in front of their homes during the day.  The signage will restrict parking for those without the appropriate permit Monday-Friday between 7am-8:30pm.  The approval letters to residents and the Notice of Intent for both locations are below.

MPD Seeking to Identify Armed Kidnapping Suspect

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Carjacking Task Force seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects of an armed kidnapping that occurred in the 6900 block of 5^th Street, Northwest.

On Thursday, November 30, 2023, at approximately 10:00 a.m., a vehicle approached the victim and a suspect exited the vehicle and brandished a handgun.  The suspect ordered the victim into the vehicle.  The suspects drove the victim around while they took property from the victim.  The suspects then let the victim out and then they fled the scene in the vehicle.

Anyone who can identify this suspect or vehicle or who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.  The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia. 

Reminder: Dept of Health (DOH) Smoking Cessation - DCQUITNOW Free to Residents

We reached out to DC Dept of Health (DOH) recently due to the many complaints we receive from tenants about unwanted smoke in their buildings and filtering through to their apartment units because of other tenants smoking in a non smoking building. Property Management must address these violations (provided the lease agreement says no smoking) and follow the law with warnings/cure&quit/eviction notices and ultimately to the court for eviction proceedings. However, we want to give people the tools to help them be able to stop smoking.  Please help get the word out on DC DOH's DCQuitNow program which is FREE to DC residents!!

DPW Service Level

Yard Waste Collection is now year-round. Residents must call 311 to make an appointment for yard waste collection. Residents can also visit 311.dc.gov to make an appointment or download and schedule an appointment using the 311 mobile app available at the Google Play and Apple App stores.  DPW only collects yard waste in paper bags. DPW will collect up to 20 paper bags of yard waste from residences that receive DPW’s trash and recycling collection services. Scheduled yard waste collection is an enhancement to the yard waste program. Residents are still able to leave their paper yard waste bags at the point of trash collection. Residents who wish to can drop off their yard waste at the Fort Totten Transfer Station during normal residential business hours.

Special Waste Collection Event (i.e., Household Hazardous Waste, electronics recycling, and document shredding) will take place on one Thursday and one Saturday each month through March 2024 at RFK Lot 2, 2400 E Capitol St. NE (across from the DC Armory). The next event will be on Saturday, December 16 from 7 AM to 2 PM. Starter kits for DPW’s Curbside Composting Pilot Program have been delivered to approximately 9,000 participating households in all eight wards. Food waste collection has started in all 8 Wards. For missed collections, please file a 311 service request for "Missed Curbside Compost Collection" by calling 311 or visiting 311.dc.gov. If your bin is lost, stolen, or broken, please file a 311 service request for "Lost/Stolen Compost Bin, Broken Compost Bin, or Opt-Out of Curbside Composting Pilot Program."

Leaf Collection

We are still collecting leaves in section C in wards 1-8.  Leaf Collection will begin in section D on Monday, December 11, 2023.  If you live in Section D, have your leaves raked to the tree box or curbside by Sunday, December 10, 2023.

Leaf Collection Status of ANC 4B06

Currently, the vast majority of ANC 4B06 have yet to be collection.  DPW is still collecting leaves in Section C in Wards 1-8 as of Friday, December 1, 2023.

Leaf collection in Section D is scheduled to commence on Monday, December 11, 2023.  All leaves must be raked into the tree box or curbside by Sunday, December 10, 2023.
