Temporary Off-Peak Lane Closure on East Capitol Street NE, Independence Avenue SE, and C Street NE Connector Loop Road
Beginning July 27, 2026
(WASHINGTON, DC) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT), in coordination with the Washington Commanders Stadium project, announces the temporary off-peak closure of one westbound lane on East Capitol Street NE, heading towards Independence Avenue SE to C Street NE, and one eastbound lane on Independence Avenue SE, heading towards East Capitol Street NE.
This closure will begin on Monday, July 27, 2026, to support the construction of the new stadium at the RFK Campus. Construction hours will take place weekdays between 9:30 AM and 3:30 PM.
Motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly and allow additional travel time.
Construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change. DDOT urges all travelers to follow posted signage and exercise caution while traveling near the work zone.
