Temporary Lane Closures for Bridge Preventive Maintenance Works

(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single or double lanes as needed on the following roadways for bridge preventive maintenance construction activities during the period of July 26, 2026 (night) through July 31, 2026, weather permitting.
Operational hours and locations are listed below:
14th Street SW Bridges over Maine Avenue SW and Ohio Drive SW (BR 171-1, -2, -3): Temporary single-lane or double-lane closures will occur nightly from July 26, 2026 (10:00 PM) through August 1, 2026 (5:30 AM), weather permitting, for bridge preventive maintenance. No full roadway closures are expected, but travel lanes will be restricted during these nighttime hours, including throughout the weekend. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to plan accordingly.
Southern Avenue SE over Oxon Run (BR 0065): Temporary single-lane closures will take place from July 27 to July 31, 2026, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting, for preventive bridge maintenance.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time. DDOT thanks the traveling public for their patience as we work to improve the safety and longevity of this critical transportation link.
Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zones. All roadway users are advised to stay alert and observe signage and work zones while traveling in this area.
