Lane Closures for Installation of Tunnel Portal Signs
(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be installing traffic guide signs throughout the District’s highway network on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
To facilitate these activities, a full closure of the Thomas Circle Tunnel will be required during off-peak hours, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM, weather permitting.
On any day when on-site conditions prohibit closures in the areas noted above, the daily installation activities will be completed the next day, when conditions allow.
Traffic controls will be in place to warn motorists as they approach the areas.
Motorists are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the installation personnel.
