Temporary 24-Hour, Two-Lane Closure on Nebraska Avenue NW Scheduled for July 7 for DC PLUG Feeder 467
(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) advises stakeholders to expect delays due to upcoming sidewalk closures for work related to the DC Power Line Undergrounding (DC PLUG) initiative.
Beginning on July 7, 2026, through August 7, 2026, two westbound lanes on Nebraska Avenue NW, from Nevada Avenue NW to Connecticut Avenue NW, will be closed for approximately one month with twenty-four-hour two-lane closures. The eastbound roadway will be split and reconfigured to carry two-way traffic, with one lane provided in each direction.
Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians safely through the area. DDOT urges all travelers to stay alert, follow posted signage, and use caution when traveling near the construction zone. Motorists are encouraged to allow additional travel time and follow all posted detour and traffic-control signage in the area. Traffic-control devices will be in place to safely guide motorists, pedestrians, and other roadway users around the work zone. This work is necessary to complete the DC PLUG feeder 467 project, which involves undergrounding power lines to increase resilience across the district.
