DC PLUG 15021 - Conduit and Structure Installation
(WASHINGTON, DC) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is alerting all stakeholders to expect intermittent lane shifts and closures continuing from June 16, 2026, to July 3, 2026, weather dependent, along the DC PLUG Feeder Footprint as crews continue to work on underground electrical systems in the Brightwood neighborhood (see map below). Residents can expect these intermittent closures to appear along:
-
13th Street NW between Van Buren Street NW and Tewkesbury Street NW
-
Van Buren Street NW between 16th Street NW and 14th Street NW
-
Whittier Place NW between 16th Street NW and 14th Street NW
-
Whittier Street NW between 16th Street NW and 14th Street NW
-
14th Street NW between Whittier Street NW and Luzon Avenue NW
-
Underwood Street NW between 16th Street NW and Georgia Avenue NW
These intermittent lane closures are necessary to install electrical structures such as conduit, manholes, tapholes, and transformer enclosures, required for the undergrounding of the primary electrical network. Following the installations, a final restoration of any disturbed sidewalk, green space, or roadway will take place. This work is taking place as part of the DC PLUG Feeder 15021 Project.
If you have any questions related to the construction, you can contact your engagement specialist, Peyton Manning, at peyton@tbaconnects.com, or you can contact the DC PLUG team at questions@dcpluginfo.com.
Please expect delays. Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians safely through the work zone. All users of the roadway are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and work zones while traveling in this area.
The completed project will improve the reliability and resiliency of the District of Columbia electric system by placing select overhead primary lines underground.
