Temporary Bridge Closures for Bridge Preventive Maintenance Works
July 6-31, 2026
(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close the following pedestrian bridge for bridge preventive maintenance construction activities during the overnight hours of July 6 through July 31, 2026, weather permitting.
Operational hours and locations are listed below:
Metropolitan Branch Trail Pedestrian Bridge over CSX Railroad at Rhode Island Metro Station (BR 232),
DDOT will temporarily close the Pedestrian Bridge access into Rhode Island Metro Station during the overnight hours, 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM, July 6 to July 31, weather permitting, for the replacement of the pedestrian bridge protective barrier railings.
No access to the Rhode Island Metro Station will be allowed from the bridge during those hours. Pedestrians are encouraged to plan ahead, allow additional travel time, and consider alternative routes to access the Metro Station. DDOT thanks the traveling public for their patience as we work to improve the safety and longevity of this critical transportation link.
