Temporary Closure of Independence Avenue SE to C Street NE Connector Loop Road Begins June 16

(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) in coordination with Washington Commanders Stadium project announces the temporary removal of the Independence Avenue SE to C Street NE Connector Loop Road beginning June 16, 2026, to support construction of the new stadium at the RFK Campus.

Motorists traveling eastbound on Independence Avenue SE are advised to detour north to 19th Street NE to access C Street NE. Motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly and allow additional travel time.

Construction activities are weather‑dependent and subject to change. DDOT urges all travelers to follow posted signage and exercise caution while traveling near the work zone.
