Concrete Deck Replacement Northbound on I-395 HOV Bridge Rehabilitation Project

(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will implement temporary lane closures on the I-395 NB HOV Bridge for concrete deck replacement work. All work is weather-dependent.
Northbound I-395 HOV Bridge
Alternating Left and Right Lane Closures:
From 9:30 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2026, to 4:30 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2026, alternating lanes of I-395 NB HOV lanes across the Potomac River will be temporarily closed for barrier relocation and traffic shift work. Associated exit ramps to I-395 NB and 14th Street will also be closed during the shift.
Work is weather-dependent. Should work not occur the evening of May 15, 2026, due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, then the work will be rescheduled for the following evening, Saturday, May 16, 2026, starting at 9:30 p.m.
Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zones. All roadway users are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and work zones while traveling in this area.
This closure is needed for construction activities associated with the I-395 HOV Bridge Rehabilitation Project. The project consists of rehabilitation of the existing fifteen-span concrete deck slab supported on continuous steel girders, concrete beams, and reinforced concrete substructure piers carrying I-395 HOV Freeway Bridge (Bridge No. 169-1; also known as Rochambeau Memorial Bridge) over Potomac River, approach roadway work at Washington, D.C. (DC), and Arlington County, Virginia (VA) ends, streetlight upgrading work and other repairs.
