MPD Arrests Suspect in Northeast Assault
(Washington, D.C.) – The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest in an assault that occurred in Northeast.
On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at approximately 11:40 a.m., the suspect approached the victim and their young child in the area of 10th Street and H Street, Northeast. The suspect attempted to speak to the victim several times as they walked. When the victim asked the suspect to leave them alone, the suspect brandished a handgun and waved it around. The suspect then fled the scene.
As a result of the detectives’ investigation,
33-year-old Tayvon Jones, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with
Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), Carrying a Pistol Without a License, and
Felon in Possession. A handgun was recovered at the time of the arrest.
