Theodore Roosevelt Bridge Pedestrian/Bicycle Path Temporarily Closed Starting Dec. 11
(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close the pedestrian/bicycle path on the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge from Dec. 11 through Dec. 22 for installation of foundations for new overhead sign structures. Detours will be in place for pedestrians/bicyclists via the Key Bridge and Arlington Memorial Bridge.
The bridge’s westbound right lane will also be reduced from three lanes to two. This change will affect traffic from the District along I-66 westbound, and traffic heading toward George Washington Memorial Parkway northbound and US 50 westbound. The lane reduction and pedestrian/bicycle detour will remain in place for approximately 10 days.
Pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow for additional travel time, and consider alternative routes. Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zones. All roadway users are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and work zones while traveling in this area.
