The Department of Buildings (DOB) is excited to announce the launch of new online checklists feature designed to help you more efficiently and quickly get your residential and commercial projects through our permitting and plan review process in ProjectDox.
Effective Monday, October 20, 2025, customers planning residential or commercial projects will be required to complete an online checklist. The checklist will clearly outline the minimum requirements for plan review–before uploading your documents for submission. This initial step will offer the following benefits for customers:
- Ensures they have the information and documentation they need from the start.
- Reduces the need for multiple pre-screenings for plan reviews.
- Increases the chances of faster zoning approval.
- Minimizes the number of overall plan review cycles.
DOB has observed a key reason for permitting delays is the submission of incomplete applications, so this new process both improves transparency about our procedures and streamlines your permitting experience.
