Weekday Sidewalk, Road, and Lane Closures for Multiple Locations

(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) advises stakeholders to expect delays due to upcoming sidewalk closures for work related to the DC Power Line Undergrounding (DC PLUG) initiative.
There will be no full roadway closure; however, sidewalks and lanes will be restricted during work hours.
Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zones. All roadway users are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and work zones while traveling in these areas.
Sidewalk and Lane closures are listed below and will take place on weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from October 1 to 31, 2025.
- Temporary northbound and southbound sidewalks and lane closure for landscaping from the 1600 block of 26th Place SE from R Street to Q Street SE
- Temporary northbound and southbound sidewalks, road and lane closures for conduit installation, pavement restoration, milling/paving from the 1600 -1800 blocks of 28th Street SE from R Street to Texas Avenue SE
- Temporary northbound sidewalk, road, and lane closures for Transformer Enclosures, Tapholes, conduit, and manhole installation from 1300 - 1400 blocks of 28th Street SE from N Street SE to Pennsylvania Avenue SE
- Temporary northbound and southbound sidewalk, road, and lane closures for Transformer Enclosures, Tapholes, conduits, manhole installation, and milling/paving from 1500 - 1600 blocks of 28th Street SE from R Street SE to Pennsylvania Avenue SE
- Temporary eastbound and westbound sidewalk, road, and lane closures for conduit, manhole, and milling/paving from the 2700 - 3000 blocks of O Street SE from 27th Street SE to Branch Avenue SE
- Temporary northbound and southbound sidewalk, road, and lane closures for milling/paving and landscaping from the 1300 block of 29th Street SE from O Street to Nash Place SE
- Temporary northbound and southbound sidewalk and lane closures for conduit installation and pavement restoration from the 1300 block of 30th Street SE, from O Street to Anacostia Road SE
- Temporary eastbound and westbound sidewalk, road, and lane closures for conduit, manhole installation, and pavement restoration from the 2800 - 3000 blocks of N Street SE, from 28th Street to 31st Street SE
- Temporary eastbound sidewalk, road, and lane closures for conduit installation and milling/paving restoration from the 2900 block of Nash Place SE from 29th Street to 30th Street SE
- Temporary northbound and southbound sidewalk road and lane closures for conduit installation and milling/paving restoration from the 1200-1300 blocks of 30th Street NE from O Street NE to N Street SE
- Temporary eastbound sidewalk and lane closures for conduit installation, pavement restoration, from the 2800 - 2900 blocks of S Street SE, from 28th Place to 30th Street SE
- Temporary northbound and southbound sidewalk, road, and lane closures for Transformer Enclosures, tapholes, conduit, manhole installation, pavement restoration from the 1700 block of 31st Street SE from Pennsylvania Avenue to Westover Drive SE
- Temporary northbound and southbound sidewalk, road, and lane closures for Transformer Enclosures, Tapholes, conduit, manhole installation, and pavement restoration from the 3100-3199 blocks of Westover Drive SE, starting at 31st Street SE
- Temporary northbound and southbound sidewalks, road and lane closures for installation of manholes, conduits, roadway and sidewalk restoration, from the 3400 - 3500 blocks of Texas Avenue SE, from Pennsylvania Avenue SE to Carpenter Street SE
- Temporary eastbound and westbound sidewalks and lane closures for installation of manholes, conduits, roadway and sidewalk restoration, from the 3700 block of S Street SE, from Texas Avenue SE to 38th Street SE
- Temporary northbound and southbound sidewalks, road and lane closures for installation of manholes, conduits, roadway and sidewalk restoration, from the 1700 - 1800 blocks of 38th Street SE, from Pennsylvania Avenue SE to Carpenter Street SE
This work is necessary to complete the DC PLUG initiative’s Feeder 14702 project, which involves undergrounding power lines for a more resilient DC.
