September Sidewalk, Lane, and Road Closures for
DC PLUG Feeder 14093

(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) advises stakeholders to expect delays due to upcoming sidewalk closures for work related to the DC Power Line Undergrounding (DC PLUG) initiative.

There will be no full roadway closure; however, sidewalks and lanes will be restricted during work hours.

Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zones. All roadway users are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and work zones while traveling in these areas.

Sidewalk and Lane closures are listed below and will take place on weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30p.m. from September 9 to 31, 2025.

• Temporary eastbound and westbound sidewalk, lane and road closure for pre-construction activities-test pit, soil samples, pre-con photos/videos, and manholes, Tapholes (TA) Transformer Enclosures (TE), conduits, pavement restoration, including roadway base, sidewalk, curb, and gutter installation from the 1400-1600 block of Evarts Street NE, from Rhode Island Avenue NE to 17^th Street NE
• Temporary northbound and southbound sidewalk, lane and road closure for pre-construction activities-test pit, soil samples, pre-con photos/videos, manholes, Tapholes (TA) Transformer Enclosures (TE), conduits, pavement restoration, including roadway base, sidewalk, curb, and gutter installation, from the 2400-2600 blocks of 17^th Street NE, from Evarts Street NE to Montana Avenue NE
• Temporary northbound and southbound sidewalk, lane and road closure for pre-construction activities-test pit, soil samples, pre-con photos/videos, manholes, Tapholes (TA) Transformer Enclosures (TE), conduits, pavement restoration, including roadway base, sidewalk, curb, and gutter installation, from the 1400-1500 blocks of Channing Street NE, from 17^Th Street NE to Douglas Street NE
• Temporary eastbound and westbound sidewalk, lane and road closure for pre-construction activities-test pit, soil samples, pre-con photos/videos, manholes, Tapholes (TA) Transformer Enclosures (TE), conduits, pavement restoration, including roadway base, sidewalk, curb, and gutter installation, from the 1700 block of Evarts Street NE, from 17^th Street NE to 18^th Street NE
• Temporary eastbound and westbound sidewalk, lane and road closure for pre-construction activities-test pit, soil samples, pre-con photos/videos, manholes, Tapholes (TA) Transformer Enclosures (TE), conduits, pavement restoration, including roadway base, sidewalk, curb, and gutter installation, from the 1800-1900 blocks of Evarts Street NE, from 17^Th Street NE to 20^th Street NE
• Temporary northbound and southbound sidewalk, lane and road closure for pre-construction activities-test pit, soil samples, pre-con photos/videos, manholes, Tapholes (TA) Transformer Enclosures (TE), conduits, pavement restoration, including roadway base, sidewalk, curb, and gutter installation, from the 2500-2600 blocks of 18^Th Street NE, from Evarts Street NE to Channing Street NE
• Temporary eastbound and westbound sidewalk, lane and road closure for pre-construction activities-test pit, soil samples, pre-con photos/videos, manholes, Tapholes (TA) Transformer Enclosures (TE), conduits, pavement restoration, including roadway base, sidewalk, curb, and gutter installation, from the 1800 block of Channing Street NE, from 18^Th Street NE to dead end

This work is necessary to complete the DC PLUG initiative’s Feeder 14093 project, which involves undergrounding power lines for a more resilient DC.
