Lane Closures on I-295 for Bridge Deck Resurfacing Work Begins July 18
(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is continuing bridge deck resurfacing work for the South Capitol Street Corridor project. As part of this effort, Interstate 295 will experience lane closures from Friday, July 18 to Sunday, July 20.
From 9:00 PM on Friday, July 18 and continuing through 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 20, two right lanes will be closed on northbound I-295. The closure will extend from just south of the Firth Sterling Avenue overpass to north of the Howard Road overpass.
From 4:00 AM on Saturday, July 19 and continuing through 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 20, Exit 4 Ramp to Suitland Parkway (south) will be closed for southbound paving operations with a signed detour in place during this period to direct motorists to Suitland Parkway via Howard Road and Firth Sterling Avenue.
From 4:00 AM on Saturday, July 19 and continuing through 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 20, Southbound I-295, will close a left lane and left shoulder between the Howard Road overpass and just south of the Firth Sterling Avenue Overpass.
Travel lanes will be restricted throughout the weekend. Motorists should expect delays, especially during peak travel periods, and are encouraged to plan accordingly, allow for additional travel time, and consider alternative routes.
Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zones. All roadway users are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and work zones while traveling in this area.
