(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is continuing bridge deck resurfacing work as part of the South Capitol Street Corridor project. As part of this effort, northbound I-295 will experience lane closures Thursday through Sunday this week.
Beginning at 9:30 AM on Thursday, July 10 and continuing through 5:00 AM Friday the left lane will be closed on northbound I-295. The closure will extend from just south of the Firth Sterling Avenue overpass to north of Howard Road overpass.
Then beginning at 9:00 PM on Friday, July 11 and continuing through 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 13, two left lanes will be closed on northbound I-295. The closure will extend from just south of the Firth Sterling Avenue overpass to north of Howard Road overpass.
There will be no full roadway closure; however, travel lanes will be restricted throughout the weekend. Motorists should expect delays, especially during peak travel periods, and are encouraged to plan accordingly.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow for additional travel time, and consider alternative routes.
Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zones. All roadway users are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and work zones while traveling in this area.
