Temporary Lane Closures for Tunnel Inspections June 9 to June 13

(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways for bridge and tunnel inspections:

Lower K Street NW and Water Street NW under Whitehurst Freeway, alternating right and left lane closures with flagging operations of Lower K Street NW and Water Street NW under Whitehurst Freeway NW on Monday, June 9, 2025, through Thursday, June 12, 2025, during the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM weather permitting.

East Capitol Street under 35^th Street SE, alternating right and left lane closures of Eastbound East Capitol Street under 35^th Street SE followed by alternating right and left lane closures of Westbound East Capitol Street under 35^th Street SE on Friday, June 13, 2025, during the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM weather permitting.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas.  Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays due to the lane closures.  Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
