(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is alerting all stakeholders to expect the continued intermittent closing of travel lanes in and around the Florida Avenue and New York Avenue NE intersection to complete final milling and paving (see map for locations). These lane closures will occur in one location at a time during the evening hours from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Milling operations are anticipated to begin on Monday, March 31 and extend through April 11. Paving operations are anticipated to begin on Monday, April 7 and extend through April 18. Work will take place at the following locations, weather permitting:
- First Street NE (Florida Avenue to M Street)
- Eckington Place NE (Florida Avenue to R Street)
- Florida Avenue NE (2nd Street to P Street)
- New York Avenue NE (First Street to Florida Avenue)
Please note: You can also anticipate intermittent delays starting April 14, between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. as crews close lanes to complete final pavement marking across the corridor.
Please adhere to the No Parking signs placed around work zones. Please expect delays. Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians safely through the work zone. All users of the roadway are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and work zones while traveling in this area.
The completed project will improve overall safety for pedestrians, motorists and cyclists along the corridor. The project features Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant intersections, traffic calming measures, improved traffic signal operation, enhanced streetscape and three new green spaces.
