The DC Department of Buildings (DOB) is excited to announce new updates to our basic business license (BBL) inspection request form and our housing and property maintenance code inspection request form. 

DOB heard feedback from residents, housing providers, and business owners who requested these updates. Basic Business License and housing code inspections ensure housing providers are providing safe and high-quality products to their customers.  

Changes include: 

• Multiple BBL inspection requests can be entered simultaneously. 
• Customer selection of BBL inspection date. 
• Automatic assignment of inspectors at time of application. 
• Direct upload of photo and video. 
• Back-end inspection processing enhancements to accelerate final license approval. 
• Landlord notification prior to submitting housing inspection complaints.
