Temporary Southbound Lane Closure on the 2200-2399 blocks of 14th Street, NE, For DC PLUG Feeder 14008 from February 19 to March 8, 2024
(WASHINGTON, DC) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is coordinating a temporary southbound lane closure on the 2200-2399 blocks of 14th Street, NE, between Downing Street and W Street, Road, NE, for Taphole, Transformer Enclosure, Manhole, and conduit installation.
The temporary southbound lane closure will begin on February 19, 2024, and continue through March 8, 2024, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., weather permitting. Residents will still have access to their homes, and parking will be prohibited as marked by “Emergency No Parking” signs.
The road closure is necessary to complete the DC Power Line Undergrounding (DC PLUG) initiative’s Feeder 14008 for manhole and conduit installation. The DC PLUG initiative is a partnership between the DDOT and Pepco to improve the resiliency and reliability of the District of Columbia electric system by placing select systems underground. Feeders are primary distribution power lines that provide services to approximately 1,100 residents within a specific neighborhood.
