Appraiser Renewal Continuing Education
Requirements for 2024

Dear Licensee,

DC Board of Real Estate Appraisers license renewal applications must be submitted by February 29, 2024, if you have not already done so.

Your license can be renewed online using this Link. If you do not already have one, you will first need to create an Access DC account by clicking this Sign-Up Link.

Appraisal Licensees shall have completed no less than twenty-eight (28) hours of acceptable continuing professional education, to include the 7-hours National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) course during the term of the license.

YOUR CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION CREDITS WILL BE SUBJECT TO AUDIT FOR FIVE (5) YEARS. YOU SHOULD RETAIN APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTATION TO VERIFY THE CPE CREDITS YOU HAVE REPORTED.

Continuing Education (CE) requirements for Appraiser Trainees, Licensed Residential Real Property Appraisers, Certified Residential Real Property Appraisers, and Certified General Real Property Appraisers: The District of Columbia Board of Real Estate Appraisers mandates a total of 28 hours of CEs to renew your license.

Note: all CEs must be completed by February 29, 2024, and must have been completed during the period of March 1, 2022 – February 29, 2024. Licensees will need to upload continuing education certificates.

District of Columbia Municipal Regulations Chapter 17, Section 2310 states:

  • Applicants who obtained an initial license on or after August 28, 2023, are not required to complete any hours of continuing education for this licensing cycle.
  • Applicants obtaining a license after February 28, 2023, of this licensing cycle, but on or before August 28, 2023, must complete 14 hours of continuing education for this licensing cycle. 
  • All other licensees must complete the full 28 hours of continuing education for this license cycle;
  • All renewing licensees who are required to meet continuing education requirements must complete the 7- hour National USPAP Update course.
