Temporary Lane Closures for the Rehabilitation of 16th Street Bridge, November 27 – December 29, 2023
(WASHINGTON, DC) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) anticipates the following lane closures as part of the ongoing 16th Street Bridge rehabilitation work, from Monday, November 27, 2023, through Friday, December 28, 2023, weather permitting:

16th Street NW, From Shepherd Street to Spring Road, NW
- (Entire month of December) Ongoing – West Sidewalk Detour
- (Entire month of December) Temporary curb lane closures as needed during off-peak hours
- (Entire month of December) As-needed overnight lane closure to protect the new curb, gutter, and driveway work with no impact to rush hour traffic.

Piney Branch Parkway
- (Entire month of December) Temporary one lane closures from 10 am - 2 pm as needed

16th Street NW, between Arkansas Avenue NW and Spring Road NW
- Ongoing west sidewalk detour. Pedestrians are advised to use the east sidewalk only for north-south access across the bridge and be mindful of advance warning signs giving directions for the lane diversion around the bridge.
Motorists are urged to obey traffic advisory instructions, use caution as they travel in these areas, anticipate moderate delays, and be mindful of construction personnel.
