Mayor Bowser Announces Tiffany Crowe as Permanent Director of the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection

Tiffany Crowe's confirmation as the permanent Director of the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP) was met with resounding approval by the District of Columbia Council on November 7, 2023. She was appointed as the Acting Director on September 7, 2023 by Mayor Muriel Bowser. 

On October 1, 2022, the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) transitioned into the District’s newest agencies, DLCP and the DC Department of Buildings (DOB).

Director Crowe now holds the noteworthy distinction of becoming DLCP's first permanent Director.

Tiffany Crowe, an experienced public administrator with over a decade of leadership experience in operations, human resources, and systems, has been appointed as the Director of the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP). She previously served as Senior Advisor and Counsel to the Associate Director of Supervision, Enforcement, and Fair Lending at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from 2012 to 2019, providing guidance on operational, legal, and strategic matters.

Director Crowe also held the position of Senior Advisor in the Office of Market Intelligence at the Securities and Exchange Commission and served as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Administrative Officer at the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs from 2019 to 2021. During her tenure, she created the Consumer Protection Unit and played a pivotal role in establishing the agency's data and performance team, which focuses on reporting and transparent performance management.

More recently, Director Crowe worked as an Associate Chief Technology Officer at OCTO where she lead a team tasked with critical enterprise applications for the District, including procurement, human resources, messaging, and IT service request platforms.
