Temporary Lane Shifts on Water Street NW / K Street NW for DC Smart Street Lighting Project
(WASHINGTON, DC) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is alerting all stakeholders to expect continued lane shifts underneath Whitehurst Freeway on Water Street NW/K Street NW (from Canal Steet NW to 29th Street NW) during the weekend hours of Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm from November 1, 2023 through November 30, 2023, weather permitting.
These lane shifts are necessary to complete activities as a part of the DC Smart Street Lighting project. They will require parking restrictions at various times during construction hours in the eastbound and/or westbound directions. Emergency No Parking signs will be posted at least 72 hours before the start of work.
Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians safely through the work zone. All roadway users are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and work zones while traveling in this area.
