Getting to know your Ombuddies in Education
The DC Office of the Ombudsman for Public Education is a confidential and informal resource that helps resolve issues between DC families and traditional public and public charter schools.
We work to resolve issues in all areas that affect student learning, including bullying and student safety, discipline, special education, attendance, enrollment, academic progress, and communication barriers.
If you or someone you know has any questions or concerns, contact us at (202) 741-0886.

Bullying Prevention Month
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Since the Office’s conception, bullying has been the most reported safety concern. Our office supports these concerns by providing informal conflict resolution services like mediation to help students learn how to solve disagreements without physical, emotional, or social violence we also help families and schools to develop safety plans and are working on policies recommendations to systematically address bullying.
This month on Twitter and Instagram the Office will launch a series on what bullying is, school’s responsibilities to address it, how to report, and resources available for families. If you are not already, follow us on Twitter @DCOmbuds and Instagram @dc.ombudsman.
