Lane Closures Notification for the Rehabilitation of 16th Street Bridge, October 1 – October 28, 2023
(WASHINGTON, DC) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) anticipates the following lane closures as part of the ongoing 16th Street Bridge rehabilitation work, from Sunday, October 01, 2023, through Friday, October 28, 2023, weather permitting:

Piney Branch Parkway NW, from Arkansas Avenue NW to Beach Drive NW:
- 10/01 – 10/28: Temporary one lane closures from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as needed.
- 10/01 – 10/05: Temporary one lane closures from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

16th Street Bridge NW, between Shepherd Street and Arkansas Avenue
- 10/01 – 10/28: Temporary curb lane closures, as needed, during off-peak hours.
- 10/01 – 10/28: East sidewalk detour, as needed. Pedestrians are advised to use the west sidewalk and be mindful of advance warning signs giving directions for the diversion.
- 10/07: Temporary northbound curb lane closure

16th St NW, between Arkansas Avenue NW and Spring Road NW
- 10/01 – 10/28: Ongoing west sidewalk detour. Pedestrians are advised to use the east sidewalk only for north-south access across the bridge and be mindful of advance warning signs giving directions for the lane diversion around the bridge.
Motorists are urged to obey traffic advisory instructions, use caution as they travel in these areas, anticipate moderate delays, and be mindful of construction personnel.
