A Message From the Acting Director

Brian Hanlon

Dear Team,

As we reach the end of a very successful FY23, this has been a productive time of reflection and planning for the future. As I think about where we are headed, one phrase continues to ring out in my head: "Thank you."

Any success and recognition that our agency receives should begin with a clearly defined focus on thanking you, our team, for the sacrifices you make on a daily basis to make the District a better place to live, work, and play.

You have been through a lot over the last several months: a transition to become a brand new agency, a leadership change, and the introduction of changes to our processes. While change can be a good thing as it often leads to progression, it can be difficult to stay focused when it feels like so many things are changing around you. This is why I am so thankful to each of you for your continued poise, flexibility, and openness as we continue to evolve to better serve our customers. Your hard work does not go unnoticed.

As always, thank you for your commitment to our mission; you have my respect and admiration for the consistent effort you put forth each day as we serve the public.

Onward,

Brian Signature

We are proud to announce that as of September 30, 2023, DOB met or exceeded all 15 of our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for FY23 based on our FY23 Performance Plan. This was only possible thanks to your commitment to our mission and continual dedication to the people we serve. Thank you!

SOP Hub and Trainual Updates

The Office of the Director is pleased to announce the addition of our agencywide policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to Trainual, the official digital training platform of DOB.

By integrating these documents directly into our learning environment, we are providing a more comprehensive and streamlined approach to onboarding employees while offering continuous learning opportunities for new and existing staff.

Toolbar

Beginning October 1, 2023, once you log into Trainual, and access the ‘Policies & SOPs’ tab on the lefthand tool bar, you will see which modules have been assigned to you.

Each module includes a policy and/or procedure, as well as an acknowledgement form that must be submitted for audit purposes. The Agency Performance Team will be working with the Administrative Operations Team and your business unit manager(s) to ensure you are reading and acknowledging the SOPs in a timely fashion. Reports will be made available to management on a quarterly basis to ensure compliance and completion of assigned modules.

Employees will be required to review their assignments and submit the acknowledgement form within thirty (30) days—unless directed otherwise by your direct supervisor. As more policies and procedures become published, they will be uploaded into the Trainual platform and assigned appropriately.

If you have any questions regarding this process, please reach out to Douglas LeBlanc (Douglas.LeBlanc1@dc.gov) or Meagan Browne (Meagan.Browne@dc.gov) of the Agency Performance team for additional information.
