Traffic Advisory: Temporary Closures on Rittenhouse Street NW for DC PLUG Project beginning August 16, 2023
(WASHINGTON, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is advising stakeholders to expect Road Closure due to manhole installation weather permitting. Parking will be restricted. Please adhere to all No Parking signs.
- Beginning August 16th, 2023, on Rittenhouse Street, NW, between 8th and 9th Street from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, Road Closure.
The road closure is necessary to complete the DC PLUG initiative’s Feeder 15009 project manhole installation. The DC PLUG Initiative consists of undergrounding powerlines for a more resilient DC.

These closures are required for construction activities associated with the following DDOT project: District of Columbia Power Line Undergrounding. (DC PLUG) The District of Columbia Power Line Undergrounding (DC PLUG) initiative is a partnership between the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and Pepco to improve the resiliency and reliability of the District of Columbia electric system by placing select systems underground. Feeders are primary distribution power lines that provide services to approximately 1,100 residents within a specific neighborhood.
