Traffic Advisory: Temporary Bridge Closures through September 3, 2023
(WASHINGTON, DC) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) intends to have a planned shutdown on the following bridges for bridge preventative maintenance construction activities beginning August 10 through September 3, 2023, weather permitting.
Operation hours and locations are listed below:
35th Street over East Capitol Street Bridge- BR.40-1, Bridge will be undergoing a planned shutdown to facilitate bridge overlay work. The closure is scheduled to begin Thursday, August 10, and last until Saturday, August 26, 2023. Detour devices and notifications are in place to direct vehicular traffic around the Bridge and back onto 35th Street. The proper variable message board will be in place to notify the public of changes.
Scale Gate over North Capitol Street NW- BR.42, Bridge will undergo a planned shutdown to facilitate bridge overlay work. The closure is scheduled to begin Thursday, August 17, and last until Sunday, September 3, 2023. Detour devices are in place to direct vehicular traffic around the Bridge and back onto Scale Gate Road. The proper variable message board will be in place to notify the public of changes.
Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas. Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays due to the bridge closures. Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and observe the inspection personnel.
