Good afternoon team,

On February 16, 2023, the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP) and the Department of Buildings (DOB) partnered to host a joint Open House that welcomed over 250 customers, stakeholders, and staff for the first time since our agencies were established. This Open House was particularly meaningful because it was also our first large public in-person event held since the pandemic began in 2020.

Over the course of the evening, responses received were overwhelmingly positive and appreciative. Sentiments were shared acknowledging the enormous lift of setting up the two agencies. It also reflected the full understanding and appreciation of the intention and progress made by both agencies, especially how our agency has transformed the way we provide services to residents – something also noticed by other jurisdictions.

There was a heightened, and renewed interests in our work, and in how our staff spoke about our work, reflecting their passion and dedication. a change in our agency’s culture was clearly visible, and we want to thank each of you for your contribution in making the Open House a success and your dedication in moving DLCP forward.

On behalf of the Executive Team, we want to thank all the program areas that participated, and in particular, the Customer Service and Account Management, Support Services, OIS, and Communications teams for providing the logistical and customer service support to execute the event.

We wish you and your family a good Presidents Day holiday weekend.

Best Regards.
