Temporary Road Closure of Bryant Street NW on February 11, 2023
(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be closing Bryant Street NW at 6th Street on February 11,2023; weather permitting. This closure is required for the safe operations of an oversize crane, being used to lift new a new steam plant into place as a part of an ongoing modernization project at the institution.
This closure will be in place from 7:00am to 4:00pm.
The crane lift is part of the ongoing construction project to modernize Howard’s old steam plant and construct a new cogeneration plant that will serve most of the campus once completed. During the crane operation, the contractor will lift (1) Heat Recovery Steam Generator which is a part of the major components necessary to keep this critically important project on schedule.
All motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to stay alert as they travel through this corridor and follow all detours signs.
