Temporarily Lane Closure on I-295 Southbound Beginning December 12, 2022
(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close the right southbound lane of I-295 by Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge, between Eastern Avenue and Ord Street NE, beginning December 12, 2022, weather permitting.
The closure will be in place for approximately 2 weeks.
This closure is necessary to complete shaft drilling for Pier 1, that is adjacent to I-295, for the construction of the Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge project.
Once completed, the Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge project will remove and replace the existing bridge over Kenilworth Avenue, NE (DC-295) and adjacent service roads with a new bridge with increased vertical clearance and ADA compliant ramps, as well as improving the bridge’s structural integrity.
