Hello Everyone,

I trust that your week is going well.

As a kind reminder, please remember that the Open Enrollment period for employee benefits closes on Monday, December 12, 2022.  I encourage you to review your current benefit elections timely.  This is a good time to visit your elections and ensure that they continue to meet your needs and those of your family.

Today, you will receive a calendar invite for Language Access training from Shantell Thompson-Weaver, special assistant to the director, for both available sessions next week.  You are only required to attend one of the offered sessions.   Please speak with your manager should you have specific questions about the training.

Thank you for your attention and support.

Sincerely,

Eric Ampedu| Chief Administrative Officer

Open Enrollment Schedule

Language Access Training | Dec. 12 And Dec. 13

As a District agency, we serve customers from many communities, some of whom are not English-proficient. Being innovative and technology-forward, we must remain committed to preserving and protecting access for all members of the public to deliver our services effectively.

The DC Language Access Act of 2004 obligates the District government to provide equal access and participation in public services, programs, and activities for residents who cannot (or have limited capacity to) speak, read, or write English.

To assist staff, we have prepared the following information for your use. When engaging with a customer who speaks another language, please be at the ready to assist them.

We will host two sessions next week on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 1:00 pm and on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 10:00 am.  Staff are required to attend at least one training.

Should you have any further questions regarding Language Access or next week's trainings, please contact Charles Basham III, communications and marketing manager, at charles.basham@dc.gov or directly at (202) 497-6305.
