Temporary 9th Street Tunnel Closure on November 21 and November 22, 2022

(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close the 9^th street tunnel entrance from 9TH Street and Constitution Avenue for VMS sign replacement:

Closing the 9^th street tunnel entrance at 9^th street and Constitution Ave on Wednesday, November 21, and November 22, 2022, between 10:00 PM and 4:30 AM, weather permitting.

The contractor will  detour all traffic from 9^th Street to 7^th Street, and from 7^th Street to Independence Ave. From Independence Ave, all who need to access the tunnel can use the ramp at 9^th Street and Independence Ave. There will be no changes to the pedestrian.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the tunnel.  Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays due to lane closures.  Drivers are advised to stay alert and observe the working crew personnel while traveling through these locations.
