SE/SW Freeway (I-695) Bridges Rehabilitation – Geotechnical Investigation
(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will perform a geotechnical investigation related to the SE/SW Freeway (I-695) Bridges Rehabilitation beginning on November 8, 2022, weather permitting.
The investigation will occur under the SE/SW Freeway (I-695) bridge and various ramps at the I-395 interchange.
Inspection hours: November 8, 2022, to December 2, 2022 - 7:30 am to 5:00 pm
The investigation includes drilling borings and performing in-situ testing in ten areas under/along the SE/SW Freeway (I-695) bridges. The borings are in the proximity of the existing bridge piers. No traffic control is expected in the investigation areas. The investigation at each area includes up to three tests: Standard Penetration Test (SPT), Cone Penetration Test (CPT), and seismic test. The soil borings are from 2 to 6 inches in diameter and up to 75 feet deep.
