Health Informatics Specialist

Job Summary:

This position is located in the DC Health Vital Records Division (DCVRD), Center for Policy, Planning and Evaluation (CPPE), Department of Health (DOH). Incumbent will have advanced knowledge of health informatics, scientific analysis, data formats, and security standards. Incumbent performs health informatics activities which requires specialized knowledge and skills in both health and information technology. Incumbent works with vendors and the DCVRD to plan and oversee the implementation of the development and maintenance of vital statistics systems and related informatics products. Accountable for overseeing the effective development and implementation of health informatics systems that meet the legal and security requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Incumbent serves as a senior-level professional health informatics specialist, providing informatics expertise for vital statistics information systems. This position performs a broad and moderately complex range of tasks associated with health informatics responsibilities such as planning, policy development, system analysis, communication, project management, system development, implementation, and evaluation, as well as maintenance, training, and other functions related to health informatics within a single information system, project, or study.

Qualifications and Education:

Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Individuals must possess at least one year of relevant, specialized experience equivalent to the grade 12 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position such as leadership or direction of work in quality improvement; system/process analysis; policy analysis; or similar work experience.

Job Summary:

The Bilingual Receptionist is the gate-keeper of LAMB’s  South Dakota facility, providing a warm, welcoming and inviting atmosphere for students, staff, parents, and visitors. The receptionist also completes administrative tasks and supports the administration. 

Schedule: 7 am to 12 pm (Monday-Friday)

Essential Duties:

  • Provide excellent customer service to parents, staff, students, and visitors in both English and Spanish via in-person contact, telephone, and email in a fast-paced front desk setting
  • Greet school visitors, manage the visitor sign-in log, and direct parents, volunteers, and guests

Qualifications:

    • Problem-specific case management and direct assistance with the obstacles families face in accessing health care, public benefits, employment, education, housing, social services and legal services.
    • Support families facing crisis situations such as domestic violence and homelessness.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience 

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in social work, education, special education, or its equivalent
  • At least three years of experience working in social services or education with immigrant communities
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish. Amharic, Tigrinya, French, and/or Arabic also highly valued.

Eligibility:

Must be legally able to work in the United States and maintain proper work authorization throughout employment. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position presented in a general office environment.

Education/Experience:

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. 
  • Ability to communicate to a variety of audiences orally and in writing
