David Do, Director
Happy New Year to the essential workers in the for-hire vehicle industry! Your hard work and dedication throughout this pandemic have been commendable. As the District continues to safely navigate the impact of the pandemic and gears up for recovery throughout 2021, it is critical to continue our mitigation efforts to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus (COVID-19). This includes wearing a mask and ensuring your vehicle is equipped with a safety partition when transporting passengers.
Operators should continue to follow prevention guidelines, “How to Protect Yourself,” at coronavirus.dc.gov, including washing their hands often; avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands; and staying home when feeling sick. We are all hopeful that recent COVID-19 scientific breakthroughs are a light at the end of the tunnel. Vaccine distribution is under way and for-hire vehicle operators will be able to receive a vaccine based on the District’s schedule. Drivers who are District residents and older than age 65 can schedule vaccination appointments now. Learn more about vaccine registration here.
We are encouraged by the resiliency that has been on full display by all essential workers in the transportation sector but especially, the drivers on the front lines. DFHV will continue to serve the industry to ensure you have the information and resources needed to operate safely under these unique circumstances.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccine
The District of Columbia Department of Health (DC Health) continues to make progress with their COVID-19 vaccine distribution planning. They are working with the federal government and local partners within the District to plan for the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine as doses become available. Periodically check coronavirus.dc.gov/vaccine to learn more about COVID-19 vaccines and the plans for the District.
