Is seeking to hire a Grants Monitor for the Mayor's Office on Latino Affairs:

Closing Date: Open until filled

Type of Appointment: Excepted Service, Grade 4 

Description: 

The Grants Monitor is responsible for monitoring the implementation of grants and contracts, ensuring that the policies and regulations of the agency are adhered to in accordance with those outlined for the District of Columbia.

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintains, revises and updates grant rules, regulations, Requests for Applications (RFAs), Intra­-district Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and grant agreements.
  • Ensures that programs are implemented both internally and externally by sub-recipient agencies consistent with appropriate OLA directives, official District government grant management policies and procedures, and grant terms and conditions.
  • Communicates with applicants and grantees, and ensures a fair and equitable grant review process according to the terms set forth in the Request for Application (RF A) and the rules of the District of Columbia.

DOMICILE REQUIREMENT

There is a legal requirement that each new appointee to the Excepted Service either: (1) be domiciled in the District of Columbia at the time of appointment; or (2) establish District domicile within one hundred eighty (180) days of appointment.  The law also requires that Excepted Service employees maintain District domicile during the period of the appointment.  Failure to maintain District domicile during the period of the appointment will result in forfeiture of employment.

Minimum Rate:$55,230.00

Description:  

This position is located in the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH). The Legal Administrative Specialist acts as a team leader and must be effective at building strong teamwork, keeping their team motivated, and setting high performance standards and helping their team meet expectations. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Assists and supports the caseload and docket management for OAH in its day-to-day caseload operations. Assists in developing and implementing special projects to improve OAH's docket and calendar. Responsible for preparing docket and case management reports. Enters the docket and calendar activities into the electronic case files.

Qualifications and Education

  • Applicant must possess one (1) year of specialized experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position and has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  • A bachelor’s degree is highly preferred with over five years of experience working with courts or D.C. Government or federal agencies or demonstrated interest in litigation, public interest law or public benefits programs.

Performs staff support work in these areas.  Establishes and maintains office files.  Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.  Performs a variety of special recurring and non-recurring assignments, which require a high degree of administrative and analytical skill, as well as confidentiality and knowledge of the agency’s goals, objectives, and program activities.  Serves as the liaison between the Director and the staff of the Office.

Qualifications and Education

A high school diploma; bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Medical Interpreter Team Lead

Summary: The Medical Interpreter Team Lead serves primarily as a medical interpreter for patients and providers in the consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translation modes. The Central American Resource Center (CARECEN) 

Is looking to hire a: Housing Preservation Specialist 

Summary

Under the supervision of the Housing Director, the Housing Preservation Specialist is responsible for assisting in developing and implementing the goals of the housing program, educating low income tenants and homeowners about their rights, supporting tenant associations, cooperatives, condominium associations and conducting city-wide outreach to tenants and homeowners. The Housing Preservation Specialist will also assist the Housing Director in preparing all administrative reports for program grants and contracts, and will provide assistance with the program’s curriculum. The staff member will also assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the Board of Directors, newsletters and annual reports. The primary responsibility of the position is to provide technical assistance to condo and coop Boards of directors to ensure continued best practices in the management of low-income housing.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent in both English and Spanish
  • Ability to work under a deadline and manage multiple projects.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum 1 – 3 years of experience in housing and credit/financial counseling preferred
