DC BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING NEWSLETTER

Message From the Board

Welcome to the DC Board of Professional Engineering's (Board) newsletter. The Board regulates the licensing and practice of professional engineers and land surveyors and protects the public by upholding the District of Columbia’s Professional Engineers regulations.

The Board held an outreach event in March 2019 at Howard University.  Board members met with students and presented "Pathways to Licensure" -- explaining and discussing the Importance of and road to licensure. The Board will hold a second outreach event at the university in the fall.

The 98th NCEES Annual Meeting was held August 14-17, 2019 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC.  The meeting included workshops offering professional development hours for professional engineers and surveyors. The Council voted on key licensure issues and elected new officers at the business sessions.

Dean Ringle, PE., PS., began his term as 2019-20 NCEES President at the conclusion of the annual meeting. He replaces outgoing president James Purcell, PE of New Jersey, who will remain on the NCEES Board of Directors as immediate past president. The 2020 annual meeting will be held August 26-29 in Chicago.
